Digital twin campus for universities and schoolsDelivered for a Jordanian university, 2022
In 2022 our team built a complete digital-twin campus for a Jordanian university — students and teachers as avatars in a 3D campus, learning supported by VR, AR and AI. This page shows how we combine that experience with Nplay Scholar, the Halo Box and Nplay Nexus into an immersive learning platform for any institution.
A campus that is open when the buildings are not
Universities discovered during the pandemic that a video call is not a campus. There is no corridor, no lab bench, no exhibition hall, and no sense of being somewhere with other people. A digital twin campus restores that: an accurate 3D copy of the real buildings where students and teachers move as avatars, attend classes, meet and present.
Our team built exactly this for a Jordanian university in 2022 — at the time described as among the first universities in the world to be present in the metaverse. The methodology is the same one we use for digital twins of facilities and for metaverse platforms: survey, model, connect, hand over.
A digital twin campus university Saudi Arabia planners commission can serve prospective students abroad, facilities teams and emergency planning from the same 3D model.
What a university programme includes
Digital-twin campus
Faculties, halls, library and grounds modelled in 3D and opened as a browser-based world. New students explore it before enrolment; distance students attend from it.
Digital twins →Digital-twin campusAvatars for students and teachers
Each user customises an avatar tied to their university identity. Teachers hold classes, office hours and seminars in rooms that mirror the real ones.
Nplay Scholar 3D training
Explore, dissect and manipulate 3D models — an engine, a heart, a circuit — with hotspots, animations and quizzes. In development, by Nplay Academy.
Nplay Scholar →Nplay Scholar 3D trainingHalo Box in labs and lecture halls
A life-size 3D model floating in front of the class, touch-controlled by the lecturer, or an AI avatar tutor in the library answering in Arabic and English.
Halo Box →Halo Box in labs and lecture hallsVirtual graduation and exhibitions
Ceremonies, student exhibitions and career fairs in a virtual venue with an auditorium, meeting rooms and branded booths — the format we ran for a fully virtual regional summit. Nplay Nexus is in development.

Record a lecture once and let an AI presenter deliver it in several languages with live Q&A — for e-learning and revision. In development.

Building a digital twin campus
Survey and 3D modelling
Site visits, drawings and photography of the campus; our 3D studio models buildings, interiors and grounds to scale.
Avatar and access system
Avatar customisation linked to university identities, roles for students, teachers and administrators, and rooms with the right permissions.
Learning content
First courses, 3D models and lectures loaded; VR, AR and AI features configured with the faculties that will use them.
Launch and knowledge transfer
Pilot with selected classes, then open to the university. Training and documentation so the IT and e-learning teams run the campus.
The classroom is moving
What institutions use it for
- Distance and hybrid learning in a campus, not a call
- Immersive learning platform for anatomy, engineering and sciences
- Virtual open days and recruitment abroad
- Student exhibitions and career fairs in a virtual venue
- Virtual graduation ceremonies for families who cannot travel
- Hologram lecterns and AI tutors in libraries and labs

Frequently asked questions
What exactly did Nplay build for the university?
In 2022 the university signed to build a complete digital-twin campus inside an Arabic-language metaverse platform: a 3D copy of the campus in which students and teachers are present as avatars, with VR, AR and AI-supported learning. Our team's role was building the platform and the campus. The case study describes it without naming the institution.
Do students need VR headsets?
No. The campus runs in a web browser with avatars; VR headsets add immersion for labs and simulations where the faculty wants them. Halo Box holograms in physical rooms need no glasses.
Is Nplay Scholar available now?
Nplay Scholar, the 3D interactive training platform by Nplay Academy, is in development. Its 3D model library, hotspots and quizzes can be piloted with a faculty as part of a campus programme.
Can we hold a virtual graduation this year?
Yes. We have run a fully virtual regional summit with an auditorium, meeting rooms and branded booths; the same venue format hosts a graduation. Nplay Nexus is the productised version of that platform and is in development, so early programmes are delivered as projects.
How is a digital twin campus different from a metaverse university in Jordan?
A digital twin is an accurate model of the real campus; a metaverse university is what happens inside it — avatars, classes, events, AI. We build both: the twin first, then the learning and events layers.
